Since Kevin Rudd has committed so much of the Australian working families’ hard earned dollars, the Australian Federal Government has even more reason to be hunting down and sniffing out every last dollar.

How generous of the ATO to develop a software program that small business owners can use to check whether they are meeting their obligations to the Australian Taxation Office

The program was designed for use by small businesses, including sole traders, with turnovers of below $2 million.

This “tax tool” builds a profile of your business from a flow chart of a series of questions, and you end up with a report that you can print with information about what your business can do to make your business more prepared for your taxation liabilities

The software helps by

• providing information on characteristics and practices that are common in the operation of a successful business
• identifying areas of your business where improvements could be made
• identifying how you can improve your ability to meet your tax obligations
• providing a report on how your current practices compare to recommended tax related practices
• outlining what might happen when you’re not complying with your tax obligations
• advising you when your business practices reach the standard required to help you meet your tax obligations.

  You’re not limited to one business- you can establish profiles for a number of businesses , and evaluate business practices at any stage of the business life-cycle

  The software will help you whether you’re thinking about starting your business right through to selling or closing your business down.
